The entry level is Class-VI. Students are admitted in Class VI and in Class VII/ VIII/ IX under lateral entry by appearing through a common entrance examination. For entry in to OAV a child has to pass though an Entrance Test. In all classes of OAVs there are 2 sections with intake capacity of 40 students in each section

Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (English Medium), established by Govt. of Odisha invites application for direct admission in class-VI in 250 Odisha Adarsha Vidyalalyas and for Lateral Entry in class-VII,VIII & IX in the vacant seats (category wise) in each Vidyalayas of the state in the academic session 2024-25 from the candidates reading in Govt./Private (English & Odia medium) schools having CoR from Govt. of Odisha.

Reservation of Seats

The quota of reservation in OAVs will be block specific. Reservation is based on caste, category as well as sex. 50% seats are to be reserved for girls in each category.

Admission Procedure

Admission to Class VI shall be done in 314 OAVs opened till date by appearing at OAVS common entrance test to be conducted at examination centers finalized by B.S.E. Odisha, Cuttack. II. Admission to Classes VII, VIII and IX of OAVs shall be done through lateral entry under existing vacancies.

•  The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, Cuttack shall invite applications from the eligible candidates for admission into Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas for Classes VI and for lateral entry into Classes VII, VIII and IX.
• The candidate has to apply online in the process intimated by B.S.E. Odisha and specified in the advertisement.
• Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Entrance Test (OAVET) shall be conducted in the selected venues as notified from time to time.
  
• The Category wise approved selection list and waiting list shall be published and displayed in the district website, DEO office, BEO office and respective OAVs.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

Students who are permanent resident of State of Odisha are only eligible for admission into OAVs.

Candidates seeking admission during 2025-26 academic session in Class VI to any OAVs must be continuing/ passed Class V/ continuing Class VI during the academic session 2024 - 25. Similarly, the child continuing/passing out of Class Std.-VI of the respective block can seek admission into Class-VII of the OAV respectively.​

Age Criteria for Admission

The minimum age of the candidate seeking admission in Class VI should be 10 or more than 10 years and 12 or less than 12 years as on 31st March 2025.

The upper age limit is relaxed by 02 years in case of PwD students

Entrance Examination Overview

• The entrance test would consist of one paper with multiple choice questions.
• There will be no negative marking.
• The entrance test shall be conducted on OMR based answer sheet.

• Birth Certificate of the student.
• Transfer Certificate (TC) from the head of the institution last studied.
• Date of Birth/ Student’s Name/ Father’s Name/ Mother’s Name as mentioned in Transfer Certificate (TC) issued in favor of student by School/ Institution/ Vidyalaya last studied shall be treated as final.
• Document in support of Social Category (Caste Certificate from competent authority) as filled up during online registration.
• Persons with Disability (PwD) certificate from competent authority in support of disability as filled up during online registration.
• Residential Certificate from Tahsildar/ Sarpanch/ Councilor in support ofResidence as filled up during online registration.
• Certificate of Recognition (CoR) in support of institution last studied, if the last studied institution is a Private institution.
• Employer certificate of the Parent/ guardian if the candidate intends to avail State Govt. employee quota/ State PSU quota.
• Aadhar Details of Student, Parent/ guardian.
